How to get auto glass and mirrors super clean, clear, and streak-free?

wedygli asked:

When I wash my car, what’s the best way to get glass and mirrors super clean and streak-free — for both inside and outside? Windex, when using a little, or a lot, seems to make it worse. I’d love to hear of anyone’s suggestions, even homemade recipes, maybe with vinegar? Thanks!!

Windex and newspaper work really good.

    Outside, I use a chamois.

For inside…I just use regular Windex and paper towels. I’ve bever had a problem. The vinegar would work…but then your car smells like vinegar. ;-)

I mix a little vinegar (2 Tablespoons ) and a drop (just one drop) of dish washing liquid to a gallon of water. Use a soft cloth wring it out and wipe the window. Use crumpled up newspaper to dry. You might want to wear rubber gloves too, oil from your skin is the worst for smears and streaks. I found that you will need to just soap them down with detergent and rinse them once or twice a year then just a little cleaning will keep them spotless.

Find some micro fiber cloth, they are fantastic. All you need is plain water, If you watch QVC shopping channel they demonstrate them.

Never spray what you are cleaning with on the window.Take a towel and spray it onto it and wipe them and then turn over to the dry side to finish. This is how they do it at the carwash.
